An abstraction of many Twitter arguments I see: Person A: “This form of Type II error is intolerable & must be stopped.” Person B: “You’re proposing a nightmare of Type I error! Thus I refuse to even acknowledge Type II error.” Person A: “What Type I error? You’re a dolt!”
Person C: “Can you see that it’s a question of balancing Type I & Type II error?” Person D: “You can’t simply balance them b/c of rights. It’s not an unconstrained optimization.” Persons A&B: “Wow! You clowns C & D really don’t get it.” Person C to D in DMs:”Good point D.”
DM of D to C: “Yours as well C. I like your tweets which I often disagree with. Would be up for lunch if you’re ever in Lagos.” DM of C to D: “Same here if you’re ever stateside. Great meeting you.” [Three days later on Twitter…] Person A: “End all Type II error MFs!!
